Angela Carter

Artist Bio


Angela Carter is a Surinamese-American artist.

Her multidisciplinary practice incorporates diverse materials and media to celebrate her

personal history, Caribbean heritage and the African Diaspora.

Raised in The Netherlands, Carter moved to Atlanta, studying Art Education and Mass Communications with a focus on Film. Carter is an international filmmaker having written and directed films in The Netherlands, Suriname and the United States. She is a published photographer and poet. Her practice spans from the mediums of filmmaking and photography to sculpture and painting. Her artwork has been acquired by both domestic and international collectors.
